Welcome to Ms. Woodford's Wild World of Learning

Hi, I’m Kim Woodford, an educator, lifelong learner, and nature enthusiast behind Wild World of Learning.

I’m a Houston-based elementary teacher with a passion for helping children make sense of the world through hands-on, curiosity-driven learning. I currently teach 4th-grade Science and Social Studies, and I’ve spent many years teaching across early childhood and elementary classrooms, from Pre-K through first grade. Before stepping into the classroom, I spent over a decade working at the Houston Zoo, where I learned firsthand how powerful real-world experiences with animals, ecosystems, and science can be.

Wild World of Learning grew out of my belief that learning should feel alive—full of wonder, questions, and meaningful connections. Here, you’ll find resources and ideas that blend science, nature, reading, writing, and social studies, all designed to support students, families, and teachers. Whether it’s a backyard science activity, a nature journal prompt, a classroom lesson, or a seasonal exploration, my goal is to make learning approachable, engaging, and rooted in the real world.

Much of my work is inspired by my love for animals, gardening, outdoor exploration, and inquiry-based education. I believe children learn best when they can touch, observe, ask questions, and reflect—when learning moves beyond worksheets and into lived experiences.

Wild World of Learning is a place for:

  • Teachers looking for engaging, classroom-ready ideas

  • Parents wanting to support learning at home

  • Curious kids who love science, nature, and discovery

I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s explore, question, grow, and learn—together.
